Child Safety PolicyLast updated: Jan 23, 2025

Commitment to Safety

Homebase is committed to protecting children and preventing the distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) across all installations of our decentralized app. We take this issue seriously and provide tools to empower users and hosting providers to uphold safety and legality within their communities.

Decentralized Nature of Homebase

Homebase is a decentralized platform, meaning it is hosted and operated by individual users or hosting providers, not centrally controlled by Homebase Inc. As a result:

  • Homebase Inc. has no direct control over the content on individual installations.
  • Each host is responsible for moderating their instance of Homebase, including responding to reports of CSAM and removing illegal content.

Built-In Safety Features

To minimize risks and support child safety, Homebase includes the following features:

  • Opt-In Connections: Users cannot receive content from others unless they explicitly choose to connect with them. This eliminates exposure to unsolicited or dangerous content.
  • Reporting Mechanism: Users can report inappropriate or illegal content to the administrator of the specific installation hosting the content. Administrators are responsible for reviewing and acting on such reports promptly.

Reporting CSAM

If you encounter CSAM on a Homebase installation, follow these steps:

  1. Use the built-in reporting feature to notify the hosting administrator.
  2. If the hosting administrator is unresponsive or complicit, report the content to local authorities or a trusted organization such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Expectations for Hosting Providers

Hosting providers using Homebase are required to:

  • Posting, hosting, or distributing CSAM.
  • Engaging in any activity that promotes or facilitates child exploitation.

Contact Information

While Homebase Inc. does not have access to individual installations, we encourage users and hosting providers to contact us if they need guidance on implementing effective safety practices at info@homebase.id
